John (Johnny) Edward Swope Jr.

John (Johnny) Edward Swope Jr., beloved father and grandfather, was born on September 13, 1951, in El Paso, Texas and passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 73, in Houston, Texas.

Family was the cornerstone of Johnny’s life. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Susie Swope Sr., and his sister and brother-in-law, Rick and Linda Sibley. He is survived by his loving daughter, Shannon Swope, and cherished son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Katie Swope.

Johnny was also a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren: Maggie Fee, Mabel Swope, and Hank Swope, who brought him immense joy and pride. Johnny also leaves behind a niece, Jennifer (Zack) Massey, nephew, Jeramy (Melanie) Sibley and great nephew, Johnathan Sibley, who he will miss greatly.

Johnny was a proud graduate of Harlingen High School, class of 1970. He furthered his education at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas, where he laid the foundation for a successful career spanning over 40 years in the sales and hardware industry. His dedication and work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Johnny had a passion for life that was evident in his many hobbies. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending countless hours in nature, and sharing those experiences with his family and friends. Johnny was also skilled in carpentry and cooking, often bringing family together around the dinner table with his delicious meals.

A memorial service to honor Johnny’s life will be held on March 8, 2025, at 10 AM at Crowder Funeral Home located at 2422 E. Broadway St., Pearland, TX 77581. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Johnny’s legacy and the many lives he touched.

The family invites you to send flowers to Crowder Funeral Home or, if you prefer, a donation to an Alzheimer’s charity of your choice in Johnny’s memory can be made. Johnny will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and his larger-than-life personality. May he rest in peace.

  4. We are so sorry to hear about Johnny and unfortunately, not until after the fact. He was always a live wire in our industry…..loved and respected by all! He always made the Texas Hardware Booster outings more fun. We’ll miss you, buddy.
