Jimmy Dewayne Smith

Jimmy Dewayne Smith was born on January 31, 1959, and entered into rest on April 9, 2025. Jimmy Smith was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Maycanzada Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Gene Peterson, Thomas Smith, Oliver Lee Smith and sister, Francine Smith. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jason Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years Patricia Smith. His children Christina (Mike) Lami of Valle Mines, Davey (Frances) Hinkle of Texas, Melissa (David) Grimes of DeSoto and Jaimie (Mike) Walton of Bacliff Texas. Jimmy is survived by his siblings Mary (Terry) Lawson of Lynn Arkansas, Larry (Connie) Smith of Texarkana, Texas, Rachel (Joe) Cappes of Lynn, Arkansas, Jerry Smith of Farmington, Missouri, Angela Robison of Lynn, Arkansas, Rodney (Lisa) Smith of DeSoto, Missouri, Patricia (Tommy) Reed of Rochelle Illinois and Tina (Mark) Smith of Rochelle, Illinois. Jimmy also leaves behind grandchildren: Ashley Robison, Ember Nox, Kayla Jean, Daltton Roberts, Dylan Hinkle, Jason Hinkle, Destinee Midgett, Emily Stegemann, Hailey Hinkle, Katherine DiMercurio, Shyana Walton, Isabella Grimes, Rebecca Stegemann, Eric DiMercurio, Keith Counts, Myia Hinkle, London Grimes, and Ace Grimes. He also is survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family members who are so broken-hearted to see him go.

Jimmy was very active in his community. Jimmy and his wife Pat lived in Sunrise Lake Community for the last ten years where he spent many years serving as a trustee. Jimmy enjoyed cutting grass, doing repairs and getting out and talking to all the residents. Jimmy was always an outdoors person. He loved fishing and gardening. You would often just find him sitting outside drinking a cup of coffee enjoying the sunshine. Jimmy loved to meat goulash and make fired potatoes and corn cakes and potato cakes for his family. He enjoyed family bbq’s, cards and just hanging out with his family.  Jimmy and Pat had only recently decided to make the move and go south to live with their youngest in Texas. Jimmy loved walking along the beach and collecting shells. He enjoyed Galveston and loved riding the waves.

Jimmy Smith was very loved and will be missed by many. It was an honor to those who got to be with him during his final moments. Arrangements are being handled by Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. He will have service in his home church at Charter Baptist Church in DeSto, Missouri at a later date.
