Jessie Dwain Dempsey

Jessie Dwain Dempsey, 48, a resident of Dickinson, Texas, passed from this life on December 3, 2024. He was born on November 2, 1976 in Houston, Texas to parents, Albert Terrel Dempsey and Cheryl Lynn (Mitchell) Dempsey.
Jessie was a profound family man, incredible husband, amazing father, and remarkable friend to the many people who were lucky enough to know him. He openly expressed how fortunate he was to have the life their family built together, while always taking time to express how incredibly proud he was of his children.
Jessie proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force before retiring as a technical sergeant in 2017, and the many who served under his leadership still share their gratitude and respect to this day.
After retirement Jessie held various positions at differing organizations around the Houston area, and most considered him a “jack of all trades.” He was quick to excel at new challenges, and never missed an opportunity to help family, friends, and neighbors in their time of need. A truly one-of-a-kind and humble man who gave of himself without expectation of receiving anything in return.
Jessie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Doreen Dempsey; daughter, Cecilia Elise Dempsey; son, Alexander Allen Cruiz Dempsey; sisters, Michelle Shulk and Tammy Shulk and brother, Anton Mitchell. (Julie Mitchell, D-nephew Tristan Mitchell)

  5. I hadn’t seen Jessie in a long time. But it wouldn’t have mattered. I knew that the next time our paths crossed, we’d be cutting up like we’d been hanging out for a year. He had a gift for making every day the best day. I miss him. I think about him every time I see the Texans play. He was “Houston” through and through.
Doreen, we all know how much he loved you, more than words could ever express. To the kids, I only met you once. You were probably about 5 or 6; and the spitting image of your parents. Please know that your father was as decent of a man as they come (a quality not often found in people these days.)
I’m sure everyone will agree when I say that the world will be lonelier without him; and that we’re all better people for knowing him. Rest in Peace, my brother. We love you. 🙏

  10. Jessie was one of the most genuine people I’ve ever known. I honestly don’t think he knew the word “no”; he was always quick to lend a hand. The world will surely miss his presence. Doreen, Alex and Cece, remember he is home with our Father, I pray that knowing that will give you peace.

    • Jessie was always kind, attentive, and genuinely cared for those around him in every way possible. He never thought homework was too hard to help with, never didn’t have some sort of MacGyver way of fixing things. Thank you for being a good example of a husband and a father for me to look up to all those years. Thank you God for placing this family in my life, and allowing me the comfort of their home that Jessie and Doreen worked hard to make.
