Jerome John Minasi Jr.
Jerome John Minasi, Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2019 in Dickinson, Texas. He was born April 9, 1929 in White Plains, NY to parents Jerome John Minasi, Sr. and Antoinette Gertrude Minasi. During the course of Jerry’s life, he worked as an Electronic Technician with New York Telephone, a Field & Test Engineer for Information Displays Inc. and Farrand Controls Inc. His true passion was in aviation, where he became a Commercial Cargo Pilot and Flight Instructor. For his third, and final career, Jerry served as a Plant Supervisor at the USDA Animal Disease Laboratory on Plumb Island, New York, until he retired in 1991.
Jerry married Virginia “Ginger” Hartley on December 19, 1953, and together they raised their four sons. As a young man Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed making his own beer & wine, gardening, cooking and spoiling his cats. After the love of his life Ginger passed away in 2004, Jerry, wanting to be closer to family and enjoy warmer weather, made the move from Long Island, New York to Dickinson, Texas. He has been a resident for the past 13 years, where he made many friends, and was joined into the Mitchiner Family. His humor, advice on cooking, gardening… and just about everything else, will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Minasi and daughter Michelle Minasi and
sister, Thelma Minasi Daddazio.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Minasi, Steven Minasi and wife Julie, David Minasi and wife Eloisa, Matthew Minasi and wife Jill; and grandchildren, Michael and wife Sara, Megan, Christopher, Daniel, Avery, and Joseph; and step-great grandchild Jude.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.
Steve, may our Lord Jesus comfort you during this time of transition. May He bring you comfort through your memories gathered during your father’s life. He is in good hands now having gone Home to the Lord.
I apologize to Julie for not responding at her Mother’s passing, but my prayers for her comfort have been said as well.
God Bless you both, Steve Sanborn
to the Minasi family:
i am sorry for your loss, reading above it seems that Mr. Minasi enjoyed life to the fullest, i got a kick out of his “advice on cooking” and had a vision of both Steve and Mr. Minasi doing a BBQ, Steve being analytical and precise and Mr. Minasi “just throw it on the grill Steve”, Steve and Julie., i will ensure both you and the Minasi clan are in my thoughts and prayers.
