Jean Arlett Wheelis, 81, passed away on Monday January 3, 2022, in League City, Texas. She was born on March 19, 1940, in Galveston, Texas, to John and Myrtle Reesby.In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by son John Wheelis and grandson Palmer Fricks.She is survived by one daughter, Christine (Michael) McCollom, two grandchildren, Tamara McCollom and Brent (Rachael) McCollom, four grandchildren, Tristen, Natalie, Lucas, and Skylar.

Jean Graduated in 1958, from Ball High School in Galveston, TX. She received her bachelor’s degree in music from Sam Houston State University. She was an accomplished pianist and violinist, playing in several orchestras over the years. She also received her master’s degree in education from Prairie View A & M. She was in education for 35 years. After retirement she opened an antique shop in the Heights. She loved books of all kinds and the beach. She would always say, “Toes in the water and seat in the sand”.

A private family service will be held on Galveston Beach. Rest in peace Mimi.
