Janice Louetta Vaughan Weems
Janice Louetta Vaughan Weems, of Houston, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 80 on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Janice was born and raised with her family in Amarillo, TX and is preceded in death by her father James Elroy Vaughan, mother Thressa Leigh Blevins, brother Douglas Avery Vaughan, and granddaughter Brianna Leigh Edwards.
Janice attended North Texas State University. She began her professional career in computer programming for banks. She later worked as a Manager of the Flight Software Application Tools team supporting shuttle missions for NASA which she thrived at for 20+ years before retiring in 2011 with the completion of the Space Shuttle Program.
Janice has been an amazing and inspirational person to anyone within her grasp while always putting her family and others first, pouring her love and generosity out for the community and spreading joy to all through her infectious and gracious smile.
Janice was previously married to Kenneth Edwin Weems, Sr. and is survived by her 3 children: Shari Edwards of Dunedin, FL, Misty Wohl of League City (husband Scott Wohl) and Ken Weems, Jr. of Chapin, South Carolina (wife Jessica Weems); Grandchildren: Brady Edwards, Anabel Edwards, Garrett Wohl, Jillian Wohl, and Austin Weems. Throughout her life, Janice gave without end, loved without abandon, and lived with complete adoration for her children and grandchildren.
A loving and giving soul, Janice had close family and friends from childhood and cared deeply for all in her family, enjoyed frequent visits from her cousin (‘sister’) Karen and husband Don Ellison, as well as extended family and friends. Janice also knew how to have a good time. One of her favorite pastimes, other than spending time with family, was sharing memories with her childhood friend Jean Wallace Morris and pulling the slots with her best friend Mattie Chavis.
She was an encourager and supporter to her friends and family alike, always letting them know they were loved. Janice always shared with anyone who would listen how blessed she was to have such a wonderful life full of love and family. However, little did she know that the true Blessing was to all who knew and were loved by her.
The Family will hold an intimate family ceremony at 11:00am at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. In lieu of flowers, you may send memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children ( http://donate.lovetotherescue.org )
