Janet Carriger

Janet Carriger, 63, went home to her Father in Heaven on December 7th, 2020 in Webster, Texas. She was born on October 9th, 1957 in Fort Dix, New Jersey to Fred and Louise Honeycutt. Janet and David were married on May 22nd, 1977. She spent the first twenty-five years of her life in Tennessee before she moved to Ft. Meyers, FL, and ultimately League City, TX. Following her husband’s retirement, they relocated to Lufkin, Texas with their beloved dog, Rufus. Janet is survived by her: husband, David Carriger, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah and Monroe Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Nate West; son and fiance, David Carriger, Jr. and Jessica Medina; mother, Louise Renfro; and six grandchildren (Monroe Roberts, Ben West, Sam West, Madison Roberts, Abel West and Jacob West) and numerous family members and friends.
Janet was an active member in Providence Baptist Church in Lufkin where she enjoyed fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ, tending to the nursery and baking for various church events.
Janet’s primary job in life was raising three children into adulthood. Her most passionate calling in life was her occupation as “MeMe” to her six beloved grandchildren.
Professionally, she worked for several years as a paraprofessional to special needs students in Galveston and then as a medical assistant. Most recently, she was a record setting sales rep at Macy’s Department Store and enjoyed working at H&R Block. She had a passion for spending time with her grandchildren and baking. She loved to build puzzles, hike mountains in Tennessee, search for waterfalls, play in the snow, and collect bears.
A memorial will be held on December 10th, at 1:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home 111 E. Medical Center Boulevard in Webster, Texas 77598.

  4. As a member of Providence church, I didn’t have time to get to know Janet as well as I would have liked. But what I do know about her made me want to know her even more. I do know she uplifted me with her smile and upbeat attitude every time I saw her. To her grandchildren please know that your MeMe loved you dearly as she talked about you every time I saw her. I feel like she was an angel God seen fit to call home.

My prayers are with you as a family, for strength, wisdom, comfort and the great memories Janet surely left behind.

  5. This beautiful woman of God we will miss dearly. At the very beginning of them coming to our church, I quickly found out she & I shared the same love for Gospel Music. She was a worker and was willing to do anything that was needed. She was so committed whether it was to work in the Nursery, cook on Sunday evenings, she even helped paint our church walls. She was a giving and thoughtful lady. Her last Sunday night before she got sick, she had made some brownies and there were more in the container. She told me take these home for my son to eat. She loved her family and treasured their time together. This does not seem real that we will never see her at church or visit around the table in the fellowship hall talking. I will never forget Mrs. Janet and will treasure the time we had together. We have confidence and know we will see her again. Bro. David and family: We are saddened that we can not be there because of covid but we are praying for God’s comfort and peace be with you at this time.
