James (Jim) Patterson was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania to parents, Ruth and Norman Patterson.
He grew up in Swissvale, PA with his sister Janet. After graduating high school, he joined the Army to serve during the Korean War. Jim graduated from Duke University in 1956 with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
After graduating college, Jim started his career of selling pipe, valves and fittings with Rockwell in Pittsburgh. While working at Rockwell, he met his first wife Judith Hollowood, they married and had five children together. One daughter Patti and four sons Brett, Eric, Gary and Toby. Rockwell gave him the opportunity to move to Houston in 1963.
Jim married Carole Dillard in 1983, where they lived in LaPorte, TX. They enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family. Jim loved Duke Basketball, playing golf, watching sports, especially the Houston Astros.
Jim is survived by his sons, Brett (Denise) of League City, Eric (Evelyn) of Houston, Gary (Beverly Greig) of Willis, and Toby (Jennifer) of Webster.
Jim is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Ivy Denis (Brandon) of Milford, New Hampshire, Ian Coyle of Milford, New Hampshire, Holly Patterson (Brett Bailey) of the Woodlands, Christopher Patterson (Lori) of Houston, Stefanie Lewis (Garrett) of Santa Fe, Jessica Schoppe (James) of League City, and Trisha Rodriguez (Justin) of Victoria. He has 10 great-grandchildren, Austin, Trevor and Cody Denis, Bud Bailey, Riley Patterson, James and Kinsley Schoppe, and Trenton, Kole and Kannon Lewis. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet, wives Judy and Carole, daughter Patti Gilbert and great-granddaughter Bonnie Nicole Bailey.
A celebration of life is scheduled for January in League City.
Words can never express the inner feeling a person get during these sad situation. Eric has been a member of our family for some time now, I can only hope and Pray that he will always look back on the Pleasant memories he had with his DAD, Eric has always been a pleasure to be with.
