James P. Maloney

 

We regret to announce the passing of our father James P. Maloney, aged 94 who passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 in League City, Texas.

Jim was retired from GPU Nuclear as a Plant Manager at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant in 1988 after 32 years. He was a respected member of his profession and well known within the community. He was educated at Mt. Saint Michael High School and attended college at both Manhattan and Monmouth Universities. He was a USAF Veteran, having served in the Korean War

After retiring James worked at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery as an Internment  Specialist as well as multiple volunteer jobs with the St. Joseph  community. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4969, and a member of the American Legion Post 129, Toms River, NJ.

Jim was a beloved husband to Mary Ann before her passing and a devoted father to Lori, Ginger, Jimmy and Mary as well as step father to Tom, Jim, and John. Grandfather to 11 and great grandfather to 5. Jim is also survived by 3 sisters Helen, Joan and Kay. After moving to Texas at 93, he enjoyed meeting new friends and spending time with the great grandkids.

A Texas memorial will be held on Saturday August 10th at 4:00 at Crowder Funeral Home 1645 East Main St, League City followed by a funeral service at St. Joseph Catholic Church time and date to be announced, and interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Jim, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy will live on through us.
