James B. Hatfield
James B. Hatfield passed away peacefully on January 28, 2014, at the age of 67. He was born in Anthony, Kansas, on October 26, 1946, son of Phil and Betty Hatfield. After graduation from Anthony High School, he received his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University and a master’s degree from Texas A and I—Corpus Christi. In 1968, Jim began his teaching career in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, making sure his little students were stellar in field day events as well as academics. Getting married, having children, teaching and coaching in Rockport, Ingleside, Clear Creek High and Clear Brook High School, all in Texas, defined him. He loved opening Clear Brook High School and being a Wolverine. He finished his career as a CCISD Athletic Director. Coaching, fishing, grilling on Sunday, and telling funny stories were his passions along with family, friends, and fun. Jim’s smile defined him. His loyalty, honesty, and sense of humor made him special and unique. He was preceded in death by Phil and Betty Hatfield and his brother, Les. He is survived by Laurie, his wife, Tracy, his daughter, Michael, his son, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, their children, Sidney and Harrison, and his oldest brother, PD. The family would like to thank MD Anderson Bay Area including Dr. Kovitz, Dr. Ballo, Phyllis, Pam, and many others. In lieu of flowers, a donation to World Craniofacial Foundation, www.worldcf.org would be appreciated.
His family will honor his life on February 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. with a fun filled open house at his home. Lots of laughs and reminiscing with a Coors Light toast ought to do the trick.
