Jack Grant Harris
On March 8th, 2024 Jack Grant Harris of Houston, Texas passed away. He was 81 years old.
Jack Grant Harris is preceded in death by his parents Peter Rhodes Harris and Louise Grant. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, his sons Kurtis and Benjamin, and Benjamin’s wife Sarah, Sister Barbara Goodrum her Husband John, and Sister-in-Law Charlene Clark.
Jack was born on September 26th, 1942 in Houston, Texas. He attended Lamar High School and received a Certificate of Equivalency for School Achievement. Jack enlisted in our United States Military with the Marine Corp on February 11, 1960, and spent some time in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal and received an honorable discharge on February 10, 1964. He went on to attend American Christian Bible College and graduated on July 8, 1977 with an Associate of Arts in Bible, and White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ School of Preaching where he received a Certificate of Graduation on July 19, 1977.
Jack and Phyllis met at West University Church of Christ, and dated for two years before being married at West University Church of Christ on July 18, 1966. Kurtis born in 1969 and Benjamin was adopted in 1981. Jack served as a deacon and a Youth Director at Deer Park Church of Christ. He went on to preach full time in at the Church of Christ in Mandeville, LA for 2 years. He liked teaching Bible Class, calling people to check on them, working with LEGO, and collection WWII memorabilia.
There will be a Memorial service Tuesday March 26th 2024 at 4:00 p.m. for Jack at League City Church of Christ 1801 E Main St League City, TX 77573. Jack wanted to be cremated and his ashes will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery.
