Mrs. Icie “Margie” Daniels Sykes, age 88, a resident of Beaufort County, NC, formerly of Bayview, Texas died Sunday, May 25, 2014. Mrs. Sykes was born in Beaufort County on June 20, 1925 to the late James Marion Daniels and Georgia Melissa O’Neal Daniels. On August 25, 1955, she married Leon Sykes, who preceded her in death on December 22, 2008. Mrs. Sykes is survived by one son, Timothy G. Sykes of Washington; two daughters, Sondra Dougherty and husband Edward of Murrieta, California, and Teresa Kaiser and husband Timof Halletsville, Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Brock) Rosson, Melissa (Kaiser) Flessner, Jamy (Kaiser) Bell, Ashley (Sykes) Johnson, Traci (Kaiser) Jalamo, Brandon Sykes, Keith Kaiser, and Koby Sykes; nineteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Dixon and Ernestine Lane both of Washington, N.C. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Sykes is preceded in death by a son, Joseph L. Sykes; three brothers, Jack Daniels, Allie Daniels and George Murphy Hopkins; and two sisters, Hazel Daniels and Ruby Pippin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, North Carolina. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Forest East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
