Harvey Delsa Womack

He was born in Franklin Parish, Louisiana in the heart of the great depression. He passed peacefully in Hospice care at Trinity Oaks of Pearland where he had lived for the past several years.

Those who knew him remember a kind and gentle man who always had a joke and a smile.  He loved with his whole heart and was a great husband, father, and friend.  Jack was deeply spiritual and loved the Lord.  He could be found either going for long walks to reading which was his favorite pastime.  His Kindle went everywhere with him.  He raised his children with loving discipline and structure.  Fond memories are precious to those whose lives he touched.  “I didn’t do it!”, “Darlin’”, “Oh Geez” and “Freakin’ out” are phrases we all have heard and loved.  Those who knew him will remember his love for snacks, candy and ice cream.  Hershey’s chocolate bars, Cheetos and his orange fingers, eating a quart of ice cream all by himself and German chocolate cake.

Jack retired from the Army after a 20-year career which included fighting in the Korean War and 2 tours of Vietnam.  After retirement, he worked for Cameron Iron Works in Houston, TX where he retired after 20 years as an accountant.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gail Gaches Womack.  He is the youngest of six siblings who preceded him in death.  Jack is survived by daughters, Cathy Hinton and husband Robert of West Monroe, LA, Barbara Brady and husband Bryan of Houston, TX, and Leigh Lonardo and husband Paul of Pearland, TX.  Also survived by his son Harvey Swift and wife Tina of Clinton, AK.  Also, daughters, Melanie Minton, Crystal Beckman, Mary Valdez, Allison Jones, Carmen Thennes, and their families.  Grandchildren Jackson Hinton, Emily Ezell and husband Sagan, Kevin Owens and wife Kelly, Brian Owens, Brandy Nunez, Katrina West and husband James, and Marcus Lonardo.  Included are great grandchildren Olivia Owens and Alexis Nunez, and Baby West (on the way).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 East Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77581.  The Memorial service will also be held at Crowder Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at 1:00p.m. with military honors at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Care Foundation via the Good Shepherd Hospice website or The Doll Foundation which can be found on the Friendly Faces Senior Care website.

Due to the recent surge of COVID-19 Delta variant hospitalizations within the Houston area, the family is requesting those who are NOT vaccinated to not attend in person but take advantage of the Livestream being provided by the Crowder Funeral Home Website via:

Those attendees who have been vaccinated are welcomed to join us and are asked to wear masks, sanitize hands, social distance, and only use your best elbow bump out of respect for Dad, all of our family, friends, and Healthcare Heroes that cared for him so beautifully.
