Grace Adele Novak, 95, passed away peacefully in her home in Dickinson, Texas, just shy of her 96th birthday. A devoted educator, Grace began her career running an in-home daycare and later became a beloved Montessori teacher, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

Grace had an adventurous spirit, celebrating her 90th birthday by skydiving over Galveston Island. She was also an avid reader who cherished time with family and friends, and she rarely missed her 5 o’clock wine and cheese.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband Norbert “Norb” Novak, Sr, sons, Norbert “John” Novak, Jr., Timothy “Tim” Novak, and Terrance “Terry” Novak.

Grace is survived by her daughter Cecelia “Cissy” Schmitt and husband Henry; her grandchildren, Anna Novak, Jonathan Novak (Delia), Ashley Smith, Sarah Novak, Brighton Schmitt (Kathleen), Katie Villalobos (Mark), Tabitha Schmitt, Hannah Acevado-Hernandez (Jhovanny); and great grandchildren, Lilly, Mark, Ezra, Ellson, Eli, Ember, and Esther. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, her dear sister-friends, Mary and Rose, and her cherished cat, Cali.

Services will be held at Shrine of the True Cross Church on Tuesday, October 8th. The rosary will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a brief visitation, and the funeral mass at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Larry Wilson. Lunch will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the True Cross Building Fund in her memory.
