Glecia (Glē) Rose Miller
Glecia (Glē) Rose Miller 77, knocked on Heaven’s Door, and ended her earthly journey, and entered eternal existence in the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 14, 2023. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on March 1, 1946. She was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Rose 27 of the Rose clan of Prussia, and her mother, Jessie Lorenia Wiley 92, the Wiley family historian. She was also raised by her maternal grandparents Lonzo Blain Wiley and wife Margaret. She is a direct descendant of Jane Wiley (father Chief Benge), daughter of Jenny Wiley of Kentucky, legendary pioneer woman who was taken captive by Indigenous Peoples in 1789, and escaped to return back to her husband, Thomas Wiley, Jane’s step-father who raised her as his own.
Glecia graduated class of ’64 from Huntington East High School, and she loved dancing to that old time rock-n-roll: that kind of music that just soothes the soul. She moved to Washington, DC to work her first job to become an operator for Bell Telephone, FKA Chesapeake and Potomac. She moved back home to be with her mother, and also worked with her, at Owens-Illinois Glass Factory. She met her husband J.D. while out with her mother, Jessie who saw J.D., a Thundering Herd Marshall U. alum, and a cross-town rival alumni of Huntington High School, and said, “That is my future son-in-law.” They would later elope to Roanoke, VA. She would later move to the Baltimore area in Towson, MD and work for Exxon, along with J.D. The family would travel to Langley Field AF Base, VA (birthplace of J.D.) to later, all three, be arrested (mistakenly) as spies when Shäna was five. Gle would then move to Houston, TX when Exxon moved to the boom-town in 1976 from Maryland. She would leave Exxon to work with children at KinderCare, and then later return to an office job next to Exxon Brookhollow, and ride with her husband to work until she retired as a proofreader from Deluxe Check Printers. Once J.D. retired from ExxonMobil, they would all move from urban sprawl, including Shäna who still worked for ExxonMobil, and go coastal in League City, TX in Galveston County. Jessie would also move to Texas when she retired in 1980, and would then move in with her daughter, Gle in 2013. Gle loved rooting for her Astros, and never missed a game, while searching on television for her hubby, J.D. and their daughter, Shäna, as they both work for the ‘Stros together. Gle also loved crocheting, and made receiving blankets for stillborn babies, and made infant blanky sets along with afghans for those she loved. She loved tiny dogs, and is now with her loving Licorice 7, and her precious Pookie 16, but she leaves her beloved rescue, Figgy behind with her loving Daddy and Sissie. Gle was brilliant at crossword puzzles and puns, and had a sly sense of humor. Gle took college courses, and maintained a perfect GPA. She was baptized in the Jordan River, in 1992, along with her husband and daughter. She, and her family, celebrated an empty tomb in Jerusalem, so that circle will be unbroken, by and by. On January 24, 1993 J.D. and Gle would celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary with a surprise ceremony for the Sunday night worship service with her church family in Houston. Shäna was her Maid of Honor. Immediate family, from both sides, also attended. Gle would celebrate her Fifty-fifth-double-nickles, and final Wedding Anniversary from a hospital bed in 2023. Their song was “Unchained Melody”. God speed your love, sweet Gle.
Glecia is survived by her Husband, James (J.D.) Dwight Miller; and her daughter, Shäna Roxanne Raquel Miller, who was also delivered by the same doctor that delivered Glecia Rose into this world. She also leaves behind her brother William Thomas Rose, Jr. and wife Kathy of Bryan, TX; nephews Phillip Rose of Round Rock, TX; William (Billy) Rose III and wife Shira and grand niece Phoenix Rose of Littleton, CO; niece Sharon Rose and grand niece Emily Phariss of College Station, TX; sister-in-law, Debra Miller and husband Steve Miller (no relation) of Timonium, MD. Glecia would leave behind a mystery for her family, and friends to try and solve. She would sign off on her facebook with a good-bye to a certain D.B.E. who we all are trying to figure out who this is, so if you know who this person is, the “framily” would love to know also, but now she is beyond any query as she tarries In the Garden while the dew is still on the roses.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 4:00pm with a Ceremony at 5 o’clock at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.
In honor of Glecia’s love for animals please donate to your local no-kill animal shelter. And every Christmas, also remember charity as we all enjoyed Glecia’s company, and every day of the year as we all “shouted out with Gle!”

Mommy, I love you, and I miss you very much every day. There is a huge Mommy sized hole in my heart, and all you wanted was to come home from the hospital. Mommy, you are Home now.

Love of my life – my Wife and bride for over 55 yrs. Very much miss you, Gle! I just realized a few minutes ago (thanks to a calendar reminder from Yahoo) that today 04/27/2023 is your 1 hr. viewing day at the funeral home and my late Father’s birth date. It IS a small world! You stood by me thick and thin as we had some great yrs. and some not so great yrs. This yr. and last fr. falls into the not so great yrs. as you got sicker and sicker and passed on to the other side. Really, really miss you!!!

Good friend. Sorry her life ended as it did. She will be missed
Dear JD and Shana, We are really going to miss Gle. She was such a wonderful, caring neighbor, and always happy to help whenever needed. She was one of the warmest neighbors we have ever had. She even helped build a neighborhood spirit by helping organize a couple neighborhood dinners. She leaves many warm memories. We thank God for having given her to us. Now I’m sure she is smiling at us from heaven.
You are such wonderful people also. You are family. Thank you for being THERE thru the entire time we were dealing with the trips to visit with her. You were a huge help in that for us. She loved seeing you guys. Thank you for helping us celebrate her last Birthday. It made her day, and she loved the flowers! She made me bring them back. LOL.
