Gladean Elizabeth Medlock
Gladean Elizabeth Medlock passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in her home at League City, Texas, at the age of 95. Gladean was born in Jadwin, Missouri, to Clarence Herndon and Effie Asbridge.
Besides her family, she had two main passions: sewing and cooking. She made her daughters’ clothes during their school years and sewed her own clothes well into her later years. She also did all of her family’s alterations, made purses, stuffed animals, draperies, and many other projects. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She and her family seldom ate out because her meals were so much better than at a restaurant. The holidays weren’t complete without one of Gladean’s pies or homemade bread.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Meredith Sanazaro; brothers, Donald, Adell “Dell” and Eldon Herndon; half-sister, Lola Williams; and half-brothers, Clyde and Omar Herndon.
Gladean is survived by Percy, her husband of 74 years; her daughter, Ann Armintor and husband Allen, and daughter, Janet Linkiwiecz; her 3 grandchildren, Christopher Armintor and wife Maribeth, Amanda McVeigh and husband Rick, and Mollie Armintor. She has 4 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jared and Chloe McVeigh and Grayson Armintor.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 Friday evening, July 27, at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main Street, League City, TX 77573. The funeral service will be at 10:00 Saturday morning, July 28, also at Crowder Funeral Home. The service will be followed by a Bar-B-Que lunch at Walding Station, 100 Perkins Avenue, Suite A, League City.
