Gerald Alfred Scholes (Gerry)

Gerald Alfred Scholes (Gerry), 84, of Dickinson, Texas passed away on November 11, 2021. He was born on December 8, 1936 in Cortland, New York, the son of the late Alfred and Helen Scholes.  He was a twin to a sister Patricia.

He graduated from Whitney Point Central High School, where he played football and basketball.  He served in the United States Army alongside Elvis Presley as a member of the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32d Armor as a Private while in Germany.  He later graduated with a Bachelor’s in Science at Elmira College in New York.  He became a Shriner and 32nd Degree Mason as well as a member of the Shriner’s Motorcycle Club.  He then chose to work for IBM as a Purchasing Agent for many years up until retirement.  He then took a part time position as a crossing guard with Clear Creek Independent School District until his illness fell upon him.

Gerry enjoyed Coaching soccer and baseball while his son played and then later sat on the sidelines to watch his grandchildren play their sports.  Gerry loved to bowl, became a Leaguer with his sons and wife.

He is survived by his wife Connie, a sister Patricia (Bob) Tremblay, son and daughter in law Steven Scholes (Kim), stepson Daniel Williams, two stepdaughters Tina Mendoza and Donna Spano.  His grandchildren; Steven, Jr., Shawn, Katelyn, Ashley, A.J., Madilyn, Kadin, Austin, Corbin, Chase, Cameron, Ciana, Joe and Julianna and three great granddaughters Brooklyn, Yolanda, and Destiny.  Along with many other friends and family.

Fly high Dad, we will see you when we get there.  We all love you and will be missed.  Rest in Heaven.

  2. My condolences to all the Scholes family. I spent many years enjoying Gerry’s company as a cousin in Endwell, NY. He loved sports, baseball, Broome Dusters hockey, and basketball. Always a smile and kidding with me as a younger cousin. I will miss you!
