George Mills McCoy III

George Mills McCoy III went to be with his Savior on December 21, 2021.  Known as Trey, he was born on December 19th, 1971, in Kansas City, Missouri to George Mills McCoy Jr. and Cheryl (McCoy) Pinson, and from that moment on everybody was always happy to see him.

Trey loved boats and the ocean, University of Oklahoma football and basketball, trips to New Orleans, and visiting family in Oklahoma.  He loved his family most of all, and his love for his daughter Katie and his immense pride in her shone through in every aspect of his very full life.

Trey will be remembered for so many things by so many people.  His faith was a pillar of his life, and he shared that faith with those who will no doubt remember his devotion and his kindness.  His friends will remember his laughter and his warmth.  His family will remember everything, each of the thousands of things that made Trey the person he was and that will make his absence so keenly felt.

He will be missed beyond measure.

Trey was preceded in death by his father George Mills McCoy Jr.; and by two brothers, Toby McCoy and Ryan McCoy.  He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his daughter Katelyn and stepdaughter Brittney; his mother and stepfather Cheryl and David Pinson of Edmond, OK; his stepmother Jane McCoy of Edmond, OK; and his brother Zac McCoy and wife Julie and nephew Rory of Edmond, OK; as well as countless friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29th, at Clear Creek Community Church, 16743 Diana Ln., Houston, TX 77062.

  3. Trey was a good friend and I will miss him. I met Trey when I was a Crew Chief for Continental Land Resources and Trey was the first person I agreed to train as a Field Landman, He was a natural and made me proud to be able to say I trained him. When we would get together, I would tell him I was disappointed in him as a Landman and he would always hang his head and reply that he understood, then we would both start laughing. He always knew I was very proud of him and everything he had accomplished in his life.I knew him as a great guy to be around, he had a unique sense of humor which always left you with a smile.

  4. George will be truly missed! He made such an impression on the kids here at Devereux. I will miss him. He was always smiling and had such a positive attitude despite the pressures of his job. Both my husband and I worked with George and will remember him fondly.

  5. “Georgie” as one of our students so fondly referred to him, quickly became part of our Devereux family. His kindness and peace would shine through in every interaction he had with our sometimes very challenging students. Even though he wore a mask at work due to our Covid precautions, you could see his smile in his eyes. George had a large frame but around our kids, he was a kind gentle man. I wish he was here longer as both staff and students alike were blessed to know him. He will be sorely missed. My condolence to his family as he spoke of them often.

  6. I had the opportunity to work with “Mr. George” on unit 6 at Devereux. I remember meeting him on his first day and he showed nothing but kindness and compassion for the kids he worked with. He enjoyed working here and went above and beyond to make everyone’s lives easier on the unit. He even went out of his way several times to help me open my office door, when I left my keys at home. He will be truly missed. My condolences go out to his family, as he spoke of them often and loved them so very much.
