Frank Robert Smith
U.S. Army Sergeant Frank Robert Smith, born March 29, 1944, went to be with our Lord December 23, 2020. A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Dickinson on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Jack Matkin.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Little Smith and Rosie Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret Geneva Smith, as well as his daughter Misty Lynn Jensen, son-in-law Brandon Lee Jensen, granddaughter Peyton Elaine Jensen, and grandson Tyler Lee Jensen. He is also survived by his cousins Barbara Seargeant and John Richards. He had many more close family members who loved him dearly.
Frank graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1963. He loved sports and supported many different teams. He got his love of auto racing from his Dad with whom he would go to the races every weekend for many years. Frank married Geneva, the love of his life in 1965. Soon afterward, he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany. He then worked as a sales representative in the grocery industry until his retirement.
Frank was very involved with his daughter and grandchildren. They shared his passion for sports and especially loved rooting for the football and basketball teams at the University of Houston. Frank and Geneva were very active with their dinner club in Katy, where they lived for 40 years. They then moved to Dickinson to be closer to their grandchildren. Frank and Geneva had many great memories traveling the world with family and friends.
Although Frank could fish quietly for hours, he did love a spirited conversation. His family and friends always looked forward to his entertaining remarks against all colleges that were not the University of Houston and all politics that were not conservative. He enjoyed sharing his opinions but, inside, was one of the sweetest people one could ever meet. During his many health struggles in the past year, he was able to connect with people on a deep level, and we are all thankful for those opportunities.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to First United Methodist Church, 200 FM 517 Rd W, Dickinson, Texas 77539.
Dear Uncle Frank,

Dear Aunt Geneva,
I am so sorry for your loss. I had great respect for Uncle Frank. He will truly be missed.
I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Smith’s passing. I enjoyed him being my neighbor at University of Houston football games. He was a true fan! Rest in peace, sir! (And go Coogs!)
We loved playing golf with y’all and listening to him complain about every stroke he made. We missed that when he got sick. I truly enjoyed the spirited conversations we had about everything we could think of. He was always such a good sport when we would tease him. He is going to be terribly missed. Loved him.
You were loved by many and will be greatly missed. JR and MB
