Eugenio Torres

Eugenio Torres was born to Teodora Torres and Eduardo Torres in Rosenberg, Texas on April 11, 1930. Eduardo and Teodora had eight children. Eugenio was the only surviving child. Eugenio had three sisters, Teodora Quintanilla (Jose Quintanilla), Maria Berbel (Daniel Berbel), and Esther Trevino (Ramiro Trevino). He had four brothers, Pablo (Librada), Jose (Concepcion), Eddie (Rachel), and Elias. He is preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, four brothers, his wife, Lydia, and his son, Eugenio Jr.
Eugenio met the love of his life, Lydia Trevino in Harlingen, Texas. Lydia would send him notes and candy via Eugenio’s nephews since Lydia’s parents were very strict. The house rule was that Lydia could not be married until she was 18. Lydia turned 18 on Friday, April 17, 1953 and she married Eugenio on Sunday, April 19, 1953. They visited Galveston on their honeymoon. Lydia was Eugenio’s true love.
Eugenio and Lydia had six sons: Eduardo; Eugenio Jr.; Jose wife Rosie and grandson Jose Jr. married to Vanessa great grandchildren Jacob and Caleb, grandsons Michael and Alex Paul; Samuel and grandson Samuel Jr.; Henry married Sylvia and grandson Henry and great grandchildren Demery and Aviana, and granddaughter Elizabeth; and David married Maria Teresa and grandchildren David Jr., Lydia, and Jennifer.
Eugenio loved and worshipped God. He was a member of Sinai Church and Monte Calvario in Galveston. He worked at Todd’s Shipyard for many years. He retired from the National Guard.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Alvaro Zamora and his team for providing him the best medical care before being admitted to hospice. The family is grateful to Chi St. Luke’s Hospital and Good Shepherd Hospice for assisting in making him comfortable during his last days. A special thanks to John Carranza and Cristina Lopez for assisting during dad’s final days.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Alex Paul Torres, Jr., Samuel Torres, Jr., David Torres, Jr., Michael Torres, Henry Torres, Jr., and Jose Torres, Jr.
