Elena Quidilla Papa
Elena Quidilla Papa, 90 years old, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Nassau Bay, Texas. She was born on January 15, 1934, in Sanchez Mira, Philippines to Simeon Quidilla and Flaviana Segundo. Elena was the oldest of four children.
Elena is preceded in death by her husband Federico Papa also by her parents and her sister Eufrocina Oamil and her son Elsor Papa and her grandson Norman Hartnell. She is survived by: her sister Emilia Buduan and her brother Florintino Quidilla, her children; Bella P Aggacid, Nida Papa Prouty, Josephine P Martinez, Adriana Q Hartnell and Guilbert Q Papa; her grandchildren; Neil Papa, Russell Aggacid, EJ Martinez, Angelica Martinez, Kristine Papa, Kristopher Papa, Rod Papa, Lance Papa, and Koocox Papa; her great grandchildren; Abigail Papa, NJ Papa, Caelyn Papa, Keisha Papa, Coven Papa, Bernard Martinez and Elliot Martinez, and numerous family members and friends.
Growing up Elena and her family, and later with her husband and children, lived an agrarian life of producing vegetables and livestock in the Philippines. She immigrated to the USA after the passing of her husband living with her daughters and their families in Chicago and later in Houston. She has friends and family all over the world in many different countries who she talked with frequently. She will be missed. She has always since childhood had a relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She has always lived in a Christian family and Christian community. Because of the Christian faith of almost everyone who loved her the pain of her loss is lessoned as we believe in our reunion in heaven. Revelation 7 9-12.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, a Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 am at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 18220 Upper Bay Rd, Houston, TX 77058.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Elena’s memory may do so to the Gloria Dei Endowment Fund for children (link below) and or any cause close to their heart.

I had the pleasure of meeting Elena at her 90th birthday party earlier this year. After speaking with her, and enjoying her party, you could easily tell she was an extremely thoughtful individual. Her children spoke so highly of their mother, and all the joy she brought them throughout their lives. I was most impressed with a phone call I received days later thanking me for the modest gift I had given her. She made a point to let me know how she knew exactly who I was. Things like that touch your heart and leave everlasting impressions on people. I’m grateful for having met and spent time with her. May she rest in eternal peace 🙏🏻

I remember when I was young, Lola asked me for a bottle of lotion and I handed her a bottle of hair gel instead. I remember giggling as she applied it to her arms. Back then I was “Sutil” (stubborn), but Lola was so chill. She was totally unbothered and just fixed my fair with the extra gel from her arms. This totally shows how patient and caring she was to family.
We miss you here Lola but we all know you are in a better place now. We love you.
