E. J. Bell

Bell, E J004E. J. Bell of Dickinson, passed away January 23, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. E. J. was born August 16, 1942 to Veleta and E. J. Bell Sr., in Selma Alabama. He earned BS and MBA degrees from Lamar University but became a true Longhorn supporter when he married. He was a member of Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, currently serving as Council Treasurer.  E. J. was preceded in death by his parents, son David Alan and a brother Donnie Bell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Becky, daughter Sharon Vela and husband Ricardo, grandchildren Dominic David and Demi Elizabeth, numerous family members and many close friends.

A visitation in his honor will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016, with a rosary service at 7:00 pm, Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church, Dickinson, TX. Mass will be held 10:30 am Thursday, January 28, 2016 Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church, with interment following at Galveston Memorial Park.

Serving as pall bearers are Ricardo Vela, Wade Berlin, Homer Yarbro, Stanley Gager, George Ussery, Elijah Bell, Larry Johnson, and Terry McBee.

E.J. had a love of all animals and especially enjoyed bird watching.  For those who wish to donate in his memory please support any animal or bird organization or shelter.

  1. Mr. Bell was a great man, and a loving father to Sharon and all of us over the 25+ years that we have been friends.
