I love you, Derrick! You were an incredible brother, so full of life. Thank you for the beautiful memories we shared growing up—you made my childhood truly special and vibrant. I always looked up to you, and I wish I had more time to tell you just how proud I was of you—not only as my brother but also as a father and a friend. I will carry you in my heart forever. Please forgive me and I love you.
My heartfelt condolences to the Garcia family and friends. I’m grateful to all who were a part of his life. His incredible legacy will live on through his children, loved ones, and family. Wishing you all comfort and many blessings.
Papi,
I will forever love you! You are the only dad I ever had! Words can’t express how much you mean to me! My hope is that you are at peace.
Love always and forever
Angie
Thank you Uncle Derrick for being my dad’s bestfriend for so many years, since you guys were kids. Thank you and my dad for making my childhood special. You taking my brother and I as your own before you became a father yourself is a loving experience I’ll treasure and be grateful for. I’ll never forget the moments at the ice skating rink in Central Park. This isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see you later, I love you. #22
I m truly saddened by the news of derricks passing. I met him years ago in NYC as we use to live in the same building. I will always remember him as what he was a very beautiful person, always smiling, hardworking and an amazing artist. I send my condolences to his family and friends and send lots of prayers.
What an amazing person and deep loss. You will forever be a Puckhead to me! You will always be remembered and missed. Heartbreaking to hear about but it was truly an honor to share the ice with you. Defend and blocks pucks before it got to you. Championships we’ve won together. It will always be remembered and cherished. RIP my friend
Without a doubt, one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Played a lot of hockey with and against Derrick and no matter how the game was going, he had a smile on his face. Really, a fine human. There will forever be something missing when I go to the rink and will think of him every time I’m on the ice.
Sincere condolences to the family and close friends. Please find some small comfort in knowing how many other people feel the same way about Derrick.
My brother may you rest in peace, meet Derrick in 25PCT Auxiliary Police unit and quickly become good friends. You will be miss but never forgotten. Now go patrol the gates of heaven.
Very rough news to hear, he was a great guy to be around. I played a lot of defense in front of him and had a more difficult time trying to score against him. An absolute genuine happy guy, always a joy to be with, absolutely one of the great parts of the hockey family. Condolences to all, rest well Derrick.
EO.
Derrick will be missed! My sincere condolences to his loved ones, which include everyone he encountered because he made all of us feel like friends and family.
We played together for several years, and Derrick continued supporting our teams in leagues around the city. For many of us he was our “go to” sub goalie because of his great attitude on and off the ice. Derrick shared a lot of laughs, and we all enjoyed some great championship victories in leagues and tournaments.
We will forever cherish the moments we had with Derrick. Our team weekend in Eagle River, WI, competing in The National Pond Hockey Championships is a special memory we will always hold dear.
