Daniel Raye Hester
Daniel Raye Hester left his earthly home to begin his eternal life in heaven on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the age of 66, after a brief illness. “Danny”, as he was known by family and friends, was born on March 13, 1954 in Houston, TX. He graduated high school in 1973 from Pasadena High School and was a lifelong resident of the Pasadena area. He worked over 20 years in education, in the South Houston area, for Pasadena Independent School District. Danny and his family believed strongly in the patriotic duty to vote. He worked many years at his neighborhood voting precinct.
Danny became a Christian as a youngster and his faith in the Lord was steadfast. He loved going to church and never thought twice about offering a prayer to someone in need. Striking up a conversation with a stranger came easy to Danny. He would greet them with a smile and leave with a new friend.
Danny’s children, grandchildren, extended family and his precious dog Maggie were his treasures. He never passed up an opportunity to stay the night with family and play with the grandkids. When staying overnight he made sure the kids enjoyed his favorite “Shipley’s” donuts. He loved family gatherings and holidays, but most of all he loved being treated to his birthday celebration at the “Olive Garden”. Birthday cake was part of the celebration and always with a candle on top.
To say Danny was proud of his Scottish Heritage is an understatement. He loved seeing the Scottish pipers marching in their kilts and hearing the bagpipes playing.
Danny loved to sing and dance. If asked by his kids, which of these he could do best, they would say, you had better ask him to dance. One of his other talents was meteorologist. His kids could always count on a phone call announcing a full moon outside. If nature decided to bless the area with bad storms, the phone would ring and Danny would proudly announce the latest weather conditions, always reminding them to be safe and reassuring them of his love. We are sure going to miss your calls, Dad.
Danny is preceded in death by his father William H. Hester, mother Annie Bowman Hester, sisters Deborah Hester and Dana Jones, brothers Barre Hester and Howard Hester.
Danny is survived by his children, Eric Hester and wife Brittany from Pearland, TX, Kimberly Williams and husband Mike from Pasadena, TX. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Kaleigh Hester, Brayden Hester, Mason Williams, Tanner Williams and Logan Williams and by his sister, Tanya Cannon from Baytown, TX.
A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 09, 2020 at Crowder Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020 in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland.
