Charles Thomas “Tommy” Cantrell Jr

Charles Thomas “Tommy” Cantrell Jr, 83, of Santa Fe, passed away Friday December 27, 2024, at his home. Tommy was born, Wednesday, July 23, 1941, in Galveston, to Rosalie and Charles Thomas Cantrell, Sr.

He was a resident of Santa Fe for the past 40 years and formerly of La Marque. Tommy was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam, a member of the Church of Christ, the Gulf Coast RPC “GGC”, the Galveston County Invitational Racing Pigeon Club “GCI”, the Gulf Coast Racing Pigeon Association and the American Racing Pigeon Union.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nellie Dapan Cantrell. Tommy survived by six sons: Charles Thomas Cantrell III & Yulia, Michael Dean Cantrell, Walter Cantrell & Kayla, Philip Cantrell & Sarah, John Thomas Cantrell & Jamie, Paul Anthony Cantrell; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, January 3, 2025, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. The visitation will continue Saturday morning from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday January 4, 2025, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock. Interment will follow the graveside service, with Rev. Chuck Daniel, officiating.
