Charles Edward Fleming
Charles Edward Fleming, 84, passed away on March 10, 2024, at home, in Houston, TX. He was born on July 7, 1939, in Shreveport, LA. Ed is survived by his wife Mickey Messmer Fleming; daughter Dee Fleming Ruiz (Jorge); sons Charles Edward Fleming, Jr. (Debby) and Stephen H. Fleming (Melissa); grandchildren, Ashley Tropea (Anthony), Maggie Dougherty (Angelo), Jessi Fleming, Charlie Fleming (Bri), Kristen Wymyczak (Cody), Mark Fleming (Ashley), Br. Dominic Mary, CFR and Paige Fleming; great grandchildren Peyton, Xavier, Luca, Gianna, Alina, Amelia, Aria, Colton, Kade, Cooper and Kaysey; brother-in-law H. M. Messmer (Marcia), sister-in-law Toni Costanza (Carl) and sister-in-law Theresa Thomas and numerous family members and friends.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Floy Mae Boswell and Richard L. Fleming, Sr.; sister Phyllis Rhunke (Herb); brother, Richard Fleming, Jr. (Joanne); sister-in-law Ellen LeBlanc (Dut, Charlie) and brother-in-law Roger Thomas.
Ed worked as a salesman and later retired as a Deputy Constable. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4577. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Ed was Mickey’s best friend and love of her life. They were married for 62 years.
On Friday, March 22, 2024, there will a Rosary recited at 10:00 am followed by Mass of Christian burial at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 15500 El Camino Real, Houston TX 77062. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the parish Life Center. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Ed’s memory may do so to Christian Action or Helping Hands at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 15500 El Camino Real, Houston TX 77062.
