Carol Jean Carson
Carol Jean Carson of Pearland, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 87 in Houston, Texas.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years, David L. Carson, daughter, Candace Ankenbruck and husband Joseph, son, Kent Carson and wife Barbara, four grand-daughters: Jenna Kervin & husband Jason, Tessa Drab and husband Jonathan, Carra Hawkins and husband Kiel, Kaittlin Carson and one great-grandson, Carson Hawkins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Verbalee Thompson and sister, Kathleen Thompson.
Carol was born on October 2, 1930 in Springfield, MO where they resided for a few years before moving to Houston in the 1930’s. She attended Milby High School where she met her husband Dave and graduated in 1948. The next year they married at Park Place Methodist Church on July 29, 1949. She attended college at The University of Houston where she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in music in just 3 years. After graduating, she began teaching third grade at Garden Villas Elementary in Houston until beginning her family. Carol also enjoyed teaching third, fourth and fifth grades at Lewis Elementary in Houston before moving to Pearland.
In 1966 Dave and Carol moved with their children to Pearland where their whole family continues to live. There she taught at Lawhon Elementary until she retired some 25 years later. Besides being devoted to her family, she also loved to play her piano and read.
Carol’s final wishes were for her family to be together and celebrate her life in simplicity, therefore no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Pearland Library, 3522 Liberty Dr., Pearland, Texas 77581. Arrangements are under the care of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland.
Carol was a lovely person. I am so sorry for your loss.
