Callie Ruth Camp
Callie Ruth Camp, 78 years old of League City Tx and Spring Branch TX, died May 28th in League City Texas. Callie lost her long battle with COPD, and passed in peace in the home with her daughter and sister by her side.
Callie was born December 2, to Oakley Judson and Virginia Lee Lambert in Bluefield, West Virginia. Callie attended college and graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Education/Mathematics, and ultimately taught 8th grade and high school Algebra. Callie married David Roy Camp and before starting their family had the pleasure of living in several cities, and finally settling down in Dickinson Texas, where her husband worked at Nasa and Callie taught 8th grade algebra at McAdams Junior High School. Callie retired to the “hill country”, and lived in Spring Branch, TX for 24 years, enjoying the New Braunfels river as well as many other travels across the United States. Callie is survived by her only daughter, Audra Lee Camp Bentley; and her sisters, Juddylee Holbrook, Sally Dillon and brothers, Sam Lambert, Oakley Lambert and Josh Lambert and 13 nieces and nephews. Callie was preceded in death by her father Oakley Judson Lambert and then mother, Virginia Lee Porterfield Lambert.
A memorial service will be held at Water’s Edge, located at 3901 Nasa Parkway, El Lago, TX 77586 on June 30, 2018 at 10:30 am and will include a lunch reception afterwards.
Callie was cremated, per her wishes.
Strange…how you remember those special people who made a difference in your life. I had Ms. Camp during my 8th grade year at McAdams. Dedicated educator with a caring attitude for all her students. Wish I knew how close we lived to one another… in her retirement years…I would have loved to visit with her. May God grant her his everlasting peace.
