“Boots” David Lee Reed, 84, resident of Algoa, Texas passed away October 10, 2014 in Texas City, Texas. He was born August 8, 1930 in LaPorte, Texas to David E. Reed and Ellen Olive Reed. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #450. He loved fishing and Sprint Race Car racing.
He founded the Galveston County Can Do Search and Rescue and was a former member of the Galveston County Sheriff Marine Division. Also, he was a member of Dayspring Church – Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Reed; daughter, Elizabeth Marie Schlotter; brother, Rusty Reed and wife Annette; three nieces, Elaine Singleton, Donna Peace and husband James, Sharon McEachern and husband Butch; two nephews, Bobby and Billy Boy; and two grandchildren, John Jacob Engle and Shelley Ann Trevino.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Dayspring Church, 2215 FM 646 N., Santa Fe, Texas.
