Billy Ray St. John
Billy Ray St. John, 65, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Billy, a lifelong resident of Texas, was born on April 23, 1959, to James Reece St. John and Lillian Cathleen St. John in Pasadena, TX. He spent his entire life dedicated to his family, his community, and his work, leaving a legacy of service, love, and kindness.
In Pasadena, Billy formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong work ethic. He served others by becoming a firefighter. Throughout his career, Billy demonstrated unwavering bravery and dedication, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, further exemplifying his commitment to protecting and serving others.
After his service, Billy transitioned into a successful career as a manager in the HVAC industry. Known for his leadership skills and fairness, he became a mentor to many and was admired for his ability to solve problems and support his team. Despite his demanding career, Billy always made time for his family and friends.
Billy deeply loved Texas, where he lived his entire life. From the vibrant city of
Pasadena to his later years in Pearland, TX, Billy cherished the culture, people, and
community around him. He enjoyed barbecues with friends and family and cheering for
his favorite Texas sports teams. His love for his home state was evident in his deep
connection to its traditions and way of life.
In his spare time, Billy pursued hobbies that brought him joy and strengthened his bond
with loved ones. He was an avid gun collector who appreciated the craftsmanship and
history behind each piece in his collection. Billy also had a passion for cooking, and his
grilled steaks became a family favorite. He loved hosting family gatherings where his
culinary skills were on full display, creating cherished memories for everyone. Billy’s
hobbies reflected his values of craftsmanship, tradition, and family.
In his final weeks, Billy was cared for with great compassion at HCA Clear Lake. His
family is forever grateful to the dedicated staff who ensured his comfort and dignity
during his three-week stay.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillian St. John, and his brother,
David St. John. He is survived by his devoted wife of nine years, Wenhui Chen;
daughters Stephanie Franzoy (and her husband, Travis), Samantha Hecker (and her
husband, Jason), and son Timothy St. John. He is also survived by his loving sisters
Jaleen St. John and Terri McRae (and her husband, Robert), and brother James Reece
St. John. Billy took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to four grandchildren:
Joseph Seth Hagan, Nathan Franzoy, Jaxon Hecker, and Hayden Hecker. His family
was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Billy will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and selflessness. He had a way of
making everyone feel valued and appreciated. Friends and family will always treasure
his warm smile, quick wit, and the stories he loved to share.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025,
at 2:00 P.M. at Crowder Funeral Home, located at 2422 Broadway St., Pearland, TX,
77581. All who knew and loved Billy are welcome to attend and honor his memory.
