Billy Joe Shaver
Billy Joe (Bill) Shaver was born in Bybee, Tennessee on December 7, 1933, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 24. 2019. Bill is most remembered for founding Clear Lake Food Pantry, a non-profit all-volunteer charitable corporation which for the past 23 years has depended on God to provide food to what is now over 1600 people a month. The pantry will continue to serve as a ministry of Clear Lake Baptist Church in partnership with other churches, businesses, and individuals in the community. Prior to “retirement,” Bill worked over 25 years as a systems analyst for IBM in the Apollo, Gemini, Saturn and Space Shuttle programs. He also ran Shaver’s Heating and Air Conditioning for 20 years, and later founded Clear Lake MultiMedia. He served as a deacon in Huntsville Park Baptist Church in Alabama and Clear Lake Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, and as a Bible teacher, New Deacon Committee Chairman, and as Outreach Chairman leading the “I Found It” campaign. As Missions Committee Chairman he brought a large family of Vietnamese refugees to the United States soon after the war in Vietnam, arranging for housing and jobs. Bill is predeceased by his son, Mike Shaver and survived by his wife, Nancy Jennings Shaver, his daughters, Kara Shaver, Carla Shaver Hofmann, and husband Peter, sister Mary Jean Treadway, half-sister Marilyn Mounts and half-brother Jerry Shaver, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held February 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at Clear Lake Baptist Church, 15700 Space Center Blvd. Houston TX 77062 in the main sanctuary building.
