Billie Merle Loop

Billie Merle Loop (87) of La Marque, TX, left this world on October 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She will now live on in peace in Heaven. She will always be remembered as a creative, outgoing, friendly, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Billie will be greatly missed every day by many.

Billie Merle Renfrow was born on December 27, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas, to John and Theoda Renfrow. She grew up on a south Texas farm with her two older brothers. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1953 and attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX.

Billie married Dale Glen Loop, the one love of her life, on April 14, 1956, in Brownsville, TX. They moved to La Marque, TX, in 1957, where they established their lives, family, and friends. They joined Highlands Baptist Church of La Marque, where they faithfully served their community throughout the years.

Billie spent the early years of her children’s lives supporting and loving her family in the home. In 1971, she graduated from the LVN program at Galveston County Memorial Hospital in Texas City. She continued to care for people as a nurse in various settings, including the Medical Surgical Clinic and Beeler Manske Clinic. Billie also played an active and positive role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found joy in being present at games, events, and family gatherings. Billie was known for her creativity, cooking, and baking skills. She was a talented seamstress who sewed fashionable clothes for many people. She was also a self-taught florist, decorator, and baker. Many will remember her for the events she decorated, the delectable, extravagant cakes she made, and the delicious meals she provided.

Billie and Dale enjoyed camping and traveling with family and neighborhood friends. They included their children and grandchildren in their experiences and created memories that will live forever. Experiencing life with family and friends through travel and camping has carried on into their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s lives.

Billie is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband of 48 years, Dale Glen Loop; parents John and Theoda “Billie” Renfrow; brothers Robert Renfrow and Roy Renfrow; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends she loved dearly.

Billie is survived by her daughter Joni Lewis (Raymond), and sons Joel Loop (Chrisilyn), Alan Loop (Dana) and Steven Loop (Daffany); her grandchildren Sara Waddell (John), Carrie Cucco (Daniel), Katie Enderle, John Loop (Odille), Keith Loop, Sarah Gonzales, Jeffrey Loop, Gabriel Loop, Evan Loop, and Shayne Loop; her great-grandchildren, Peyton Enderle (Courtney), Kylie Waddell, Aidan Loop, Gavin Semon, Addison Waddell, Raegan Hardwick, Avery Waddell, Marlie Cucco, Alena Casanova, Aurora Loop, and Emmie Cucco; sisters in law Debbie Loop, Kay Loop, and Janet Renfrow; and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Highlands Baptist Church in La Marque. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

The family wishes to thank Bristol Hospice Care for their compassion for Billie and her family in her final days and Discovery Village (Heartis) for the care and love they gave Billie the last five years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Highlands Baptist Church, the Parkinson’s Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
