Betty Lou Hooper

 

Betty Lou Hooper, 79, of Alvin, Tx peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 10th 2024. She was born on August 21 st, 1944 to George Lacy and Flo Marie Prince in Bay City, Tx. She was formerly a resident of Sweeny, Tx before settling in Alvin, Tx in 1976.

Betty is preceded in death by her soulmate and husband of 38 years, Bennie Lee Hooper, her parents George Lacy and Flo Marie Prince, and her sister Cheryl Graham.

She is survived by her sisters Mollie Wright (Don) and Martha Verbeck; Her Children- Kellie Hightower (K-Wayne Wooster), Michelle Hooper, Ricky Hooper (Wife Sheila),

Tommy Hightower, her grandchildren- Kevin Hartney (Wife Lacey), Jacob Hightower (Sam), Emerald Hooper, Lauren Hooper, Kegan Hooper, Linzey Walmsley (Husband Darin), Marie Crowder, and her great-grandchildren- Rustin Hartney, Brycen and Oliver Cash, Mason Hale; Uncle-Cleston King (Judy) and cherished friend and neighbor- Chuck Powell. And many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Betty was affectionately known as Mom, Momma, Bet, Betty Lou, Aunt Bet, Boo, Hoop, Granny, and wore many hats supporting her family and friends in their endeavors. She enjoyed her career as a nurse, leading 4-H groups, playing basketball, fishing, gardening, being a Rodeo mom, laughing, story-telling, but most of all-loving her family and taking care of and showing love to anyone and everyone around her.

She was strong in her Faith and had accepted Jesus into her life.

Her celebration of life will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E. Broadway St. Pearland, Tx 77581. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17th 2024 followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Jamie Walker of West Columbia, Tx.

  3. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Your mom was truly a remarkable woman, and I have so many fond memories of her from my childhood. Mrs. Hooper was the ultimate team mom—always there with oranges at halftime during football games and spreading joy wherever she went. She had a special ability to uplift everyone around her.
