Bertha Reyna Oakes, 76, resident of Dickinson, Texas, passed away February 12, 2018. She was born December 23, 1941 in Texas City, Texas to parents Juan and Margarita Reyna. She was a previous member of St. Mary’s The Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. She is currently a member of Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson.

Bertha and Dan were married 53 years. Bertha was a stay at home mom. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Most will remember her as a wheeler and dealer at garage sales! Her children will remember her best as a fighter. She was a breast cancer survivor. Even in her final days, Bertha fought 5 ½ days off of all machines

She was preceded in death by her son Michael Cortez.

She is survived by her husband Dan Oakes; daughter, Susan Honicker and husband Mark Honicker; sons, Dan Oakes Jr., David Oakes; grandchildren, Jessica Oakes, Emily Oakes, Hayden Honicker, and Peyton Honicker.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm
at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City, Texas. Interment will follow at La Marque City Cemetery in La Marque, Texas.
