Bernice Weaver Vaughn
Bernice Weaver Vaughn, 90, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015. She was born Oct. 11, 1925 in Galveston, Texas to W.A. and Alice Schmidt Weaver. She married Desaw Vaughn and they were together for 62 years. She was a longtime resident of La Marque, Texas, where she had been an active member of Highland’s Baptist Church. Bernice worked as an Underwriter for American National Insurance Co. in Galveston and retired in 1989 after 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Francelene Hunt and Gladys Stout, and brother James F. Weaver, son-in-law Jim Phillips, and three grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Phillips, Joan Ray and husband Larry, son, Terry Vaughn and wife Cindy; seven grandchildren, Rodney Ray and wife Debi, Tami Crosland and husband Donny, Nancy Reedy and husband Kelly, Bradley Ray and fiancé Wendy Smith, Jesse Vaughn and wife Tammy, Becky Phillips, Tessa Goryance and husband John; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley Vaughn, Lauren Hart and husband Craig, Bryn Ray, Bria Ray, Rebecca Vaughn, Cory Ray, Austin Reedy, Amia Vaughn, Kamden Reedy, and Jordan Reedy; three great-great-grandchildren, Rodney Hall, Wyman Hall, and Gabriellah Hart. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm – 1 pm with Funeral immediately following at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with Pastor David Fleming officiating. Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rodney Ray, Kelly Reedy, Ted Bragg, Tim Vernon and Shane McGallian. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bradley Ray and Jesse Vaughn
