Bartley Jason Gray

Bartley Jason Gray (55) of San Leon, Texas passed away on August 15, 2024.  He was born in Texas City, TX on February 1, 1969 to Sylvia Ann and Tony Ray Gray, Sr.  Jason attended La Marque schools and graduated from La Marque High School in 1989.  He worked for Kone Elevator of Houston and was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #31 and the Galveston Elks Lodge #126.

Jason was an affectionate, dedicated and hardworking man who always put others needs before his own.  He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and fishing.  Spending time on his boat brought him a lot of joy.  He enjoyed being on Krispy Kritters barbeque cookoff team with his friends, winning several trophies at the Galveston County Fair.

Jason is preceded in death by his father: Tony Gray, Sr., grandparents: Bartley Jennings, Sr., Sarah Jennings, William Gray and Lela Gray.  He is survived by his mother and step-father: Sylvia and Gerald Hoyland, brothers: Tony Gray Jr. and Alan Gray (Amy), sister Michele Hoyland and as well as many other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 8:00pm.  The Elks Lodge #126 will officiate a memorial at 6:00 pm.  A funeral service will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 22, 2024 with Rev Bill Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.  Following the cemetery service, a celebration of life will be held at the VFW Hall at 901 Main St. in La Marque, TX.  Please join us for food and fellowship.

Pallbearers will be Mat Jennings, Mike Gibson, Bart Hood, Steve Kuchta, Shawn Kearney and Wes Partin.  Honorary pallbearer will be Bubba Jennings.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Elks Lodge #126, 1518 23rd St. Galveston, TX 77550 in Jason’s name.

  1. Sending my deepest condolences to his family & friends. He definitely put others ahead of himself, including our daughter-in-law, Tiffany Guidry & our grandchildren. They will most definitely miss having him in their lives. He will forever be with them in their hearts forever! Rest in peace, Jason & know that you were loved by many!
