Barbara Straty passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2025—her 93rd birthday—surrounded by family. Born in Manhattan, New York, to Lena Cohen and Waldemar Polack, Barbara built a life filled with love, determination, and an undeniable sense of style. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Straty, as well as her Father , Waldemar and parents Lena and Lawrence Wallach. Barbara leaves behind a lasting legacy through her children: Wayne Straty (Becky), Stephen Straty (Laurie-Jo), and Cheryl Maultsby (Jim). She was a cherished grandmother to Derek Rowe, Devon Rowe, Shannon Heid (Scott), Shayne Williams (Ryan), Caroline Kraft (Noah), and Claire Straty (Kevin), and a proud great-grandmother to Carter, Bradie, Samantha, and Camille. She is also survived by her brothers Neal Wallach (Susan) and Bruce Wallach (Harriet), along with her devoted caregiver and friend Kathy Brown. Barbara had an illustrious career in real estate after obtaining her license in December 1967. She found great joy in helping families discover their perfect homes and took pride in making dreams come true. Her many accomplishments in the field were well known to those who had the privilege of working with her. Her mentorship and encouragement to realtors, contractors, and individuals in the real estate industry such as mortgage lenders and title companies forged there successes also. Barbara was extremely respected and looked up to. Beyond her career, Barbara was passionate about fashion, family, and friends. Her impeccable style was always on display, reflecting her vibrant personality. A ball of fire in a small package, she lived with spirit and determination that will never be forgotten. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved Barbara.

On Sunday, March 16, 205 Barbara’s family will greet guests from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, Webster, TX. A private family interment will follow at a later date.
