Barbara Ann Sweeny of Houston Texas passed away on May 22, 2024 in Alvin Texas at the age of 93. Barbara was born on June 11, 1930 to John and Hortense Jones in Galveston Texas and grew up in Dickinson where she met her future husband Roger Sweeny. She was a loving wife and mother to her family.

Barbara received her Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Special Education. She was very active in her community volunteering at the local schools and helping to mentor children in reading. She was an active volunteer in various ministries at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Christopher Episcopal Church. She loved God and spent much of her spare time praying, studying, and reading the bible. The Lord has now received His daughter and given her a glorified body for eternity. We will miss her greatly, but we are thankful that she is with the one that created her.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents John and Hortense Jones, her daughter Carol Sweeny, and grandson Justin Wingo. Barbara is survived by her husband of 71 years, Roger, daughters Joan Sweeny, Sandy Martin and husband Seth, her grandchildren, Steven Russell Camp Jr., Ryan Wingo, Ethan Martin, and Alyssa Martin. Barbara will be missed by many that loved and cared for her.

There will be a graveside service where she will be surrounded by her immediate family.
