Artre Hillman Rusk IV

Artre Hillman Rusk IV, of Dickinson, passed away April 15, 2025, at the age of 44.

Also known as “Tracy” and “Tonk” Artre was born August 27, 1980, to Artre Hillman Rusk III and Billye Rusk.

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Monday, April 21 at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 E Main St, League City.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, April 22 at the funeral home, officiated by Morris Mays. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 901 N. Kansas St., League City, following a United States Coast Guard honor ceremony.

After graduating from Seaborne Challenge Corps in 1998, Artre entered the service of the United States Coast Guard, serving from 1999-2012, and held the E-6 rank.

While serving in the Coast Guard, Artre received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Coast Guard Meritorious Team Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Coast Guard Pistol Expert Medal and the Coast Guard Pistol Marksmanship Medal.

Additionally, he was awarded the following: the Coast Guard Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon with Hurricane Device, Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Unit Commendation Ribbon with Gold Star, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon with Gold Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, and Third Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal for period ending November 29, 2012.

The most important people in Artre’s life were his daughters Hauna and Asia, followed by his service dog Breacher, who was his best friend and constant companion. A disabled veteran, Artre cherished the time he spent in the Coast Guard with his team.

Survivors in addition to his parents Billye Denise and Artre Hillman Rusk III of Dickinson and daughters Hauna Rusk of Dickinson and Asia Rodriguez of Spring, grandson Julian Rodriguez of Spring; sister, Billye Trader and brother-in-law Jacob Trader of Pasadena; brother, Bradley Rusk and wife Jordan Rusk of League City; Natalie Garrett of Spokane Washington and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Rusk, Samuel Giamalva, Jacob Trader, Jason Kifer, Randall Stansfield, Matt Maggiolino, Curtis Norman, and Robert Mireles. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Burton.

  1. I took this photo of them on a beautiful fall day. Breacher had just treed two black bears, and I never saw Artre so proud of him. My heart is with the Rusks during this difficult time.
