Arthur David Anton M.D.
Arthur David Anton M.D., 84, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2014, with his wife at his side in Seabrook, TX. He was born February 9, 1930 in Sedalia, MO to Raymond Earl Anton and Mary Eulalia O’Malley Anton. Arthur is survived by: his beloved wife, Mary Sue Shy Anton; son, Arthur David Anton, Jr. of Santa Fe, NM; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Anton Papasakelariou and son-in-law Cristo Papasakelariou, M.D., of Houston, TX; son, Philip Jerome Anton and daughter-in-law Yuriko Young Anton, of San Diego, CA; sister, Frances Anton Osborne, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Marta Anton, Newberg, OR, and Wyatt and Miles Anton, and Brace, Mari and Tristan Young of San Diego, CA; great granddaughter Olivia Soppe; and life-long friend Colonel Philip J. White, USAF, Retired. Also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many cherished friends and former patients. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Eulalia Anton Maly.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and earned an undergraduate degree from Central Missouri State University and his M.D. at the University of Missouri. Arthur served as a family physician for 30 plus years in the Clear Lake Area. He was on the founding medical staff of Clear Lake Hospital and was Chief of Staff at St. John Hospital. He served his community on the St. Paul Catholic Church Parish Council, as a member of Knights of Columbus Council 6234, as the Public Health Officer for Taylor Lake Village, and after retirement continued his life of service to others by volunteering at the USO at Hobby Airport, and serving on the Evelyn Meador Library Board in Seabrook. In 2012, he was honored by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce as one of 50 people in the area who made a difference in the community. His interests included sailing, reading, ham radio, baking bread, and visiting historical places. His family is grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends during his illness, and the special care given by Donna Sue Dolle, M.D.
A Visitation and Vigil Service will be held Sunday, April 27, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Drive, Nassau Bay, TX 77058. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 28, at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:30 AM, at Evergreen Cemetery, New Madrid, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation in Arthur’s memory to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, or to Friends of the Evelyn Meador Library, PO Box 684, Seabrook, TX 77586.
