Anthony “Sonny” Perez Concepcion
Anthony “Sonny” Perez Concepcion, 73, passed away on August 11, 2020 in Pasadena, TX. He was born on February 25, 1947 in Makati, Philippines. Anthony is survived by his wife Vicenta Noel Concepcion; daughter Kelly and her husband David Dahlen; granddaughter Kayla; brothers Jessie (Cynthia), Carlos (Marilou), Dave (Charity), Emmanuel (Elizabeth), sister Cindee (Barry), brother-in-law Lysander Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sonny met Vency on a blind date in 1968 and were married on November 7, 1969. They lived in Saginaw, MI in 1969 then moved to Chicago, IL in 1970 where he worked as a parts salesman for Chevrolet, then later became a parts manager for Chevrolet in Libertyville. In 1979 after having a vacation in Texas, they decided to move to Houston and settled in Meadowgreen. He continued his work as a parts salesman until he graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing from San Jacinto College in 1985. His career as an RN were at HCPC in Psych, ICU at UTMB, Home Health Wound Care for UTMB, and completed his career in Case Management for TDCJ UTMB and retiring in 2011.
Sonny’s favorite past times were traveling by long distance driving with his family in the Beauville van; bowling; fishing; going to the casino/dog track; playing bingo; relaxing at the gym sauna and exercise; singing and playing the guitar for the Sto. Nino prayers for many years; watching comedies, old war movies, and basketball games. But what Sonny loved the most was spending time with his family and hanging out with his “Buddy” (Kayla). He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where he attended on Sundays with his family. He loved going out to eat, so that was our family ritual every Sunday, and he always let his Buddy Kayla pick the restaurant.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Lydia Concepcion, brother Roberto “Bobby” Concepcion, sister Elizabeth Garcia, and son Eric Concepcion.
Sonny’s viewing will be held on Thursday, August 20th at 6:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd Webster, TX 77598. His funeral mass with be held on Friday, August 21st at 11:00am at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546. There will be no graveside service.

To our dearest Auntie Vency, Ate Kelly, David, and Kayla,
We extend our deepest sympathy to you all. We will always cherish the beautiful memories we have of Uncle Sonny: his contagious laugh, the seafood boils at your house, visits to Illinois in the trusty (and huge) Beauville van, and him ordering multiples of items off the Portillo’s menu to pack/freeze for the trip back home to Houston. We love you all so much. Please know that we keep you all in our daily prayers.
Eternal Rest grant unto the soul of Sonny , O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul Rest In Peace.
