Anita Arlene Collins

Anita Arlene Collins, 78, a resident of League City, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. She was born in Alvin, Texas to parents, William Henry Avitts and Ophelia (Vance) Avitts.

Anita was an entrepreneur, working on various business projects with her husband. She was also a boat captain and best known for Anita’s Bait Camp on the Texas City Dike.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John William Collins and sisters, Modeen O’Farrell and husband Paul and Edith Topping and husband Charles.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, John William Collins II and daughter-in-law Lisa Collins; sisters, Sheryl Shehane and husband Ken, Kathy Hamilton and husband Jack, and Henrietta Smith; and grandchildren, Josh Collins and Megan Collins, along with many nieces and nephews.

In her honor, there will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Anita’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Salvation Army.

  1. Anita not only was beautiful, but had a beautiful soul. The LORD called her spirit home.

    She was patient and one of the sweetest and loving people to grace the earth. I will miss her sweet southern accent.
