James William Cole III (Jim)

James William Cole, III (Jim), 77, of Webster, TX passed away on February 18, 2025.  He was born on August 1, 1947 to James William Cole, Jr. and Colleen Moore Cole in Baytown, Texas.

He graduated from Channelview High School in 1965 where he played the cornet in the band.  He attended University of Houston where he played the trumpet in the marching band.  He graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

Jim was in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged in 1972, having achieved the rank of SP5.  He served an additional three years with the Army Reserves.  He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.

Jim worked at The Pasadena Paper Mill for over 30 years.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Houston, TX for over 25 years.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed classical music, photography, and playing chess.

After retirement, Jim was devoted to extensive Bible study and spending time with family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents James William Cole, Jr. and Colleen Moore Cole; grandparents James William Cole, Sr., Leoma Gilmore Cole, William Joseph Moore, and Lilly Mae Willis Moore; niece Katie Hollis; twelve aunts and uncles; several cousins and many other family and friends.

He is survived by his brother Bob Cole and Bob’s wife Carriann, brother John Cole and John’s wife Abby; nieces Kim (Larry) Turvan, Erin (Craig) Christoph, Alicia (Dave) Kiser, Kristina Hollis, Karla (Rick) Sanchez, and Kourtney Hollis; great nieces and nephews Justin Christoph, Robert (Christina) Christoph, Chaz Kiser, Noelle Kiser, Beau Kiser, Marina Tarrents, Amarya Varela, Leila Varela, Ashlyn Earhart, Lane Earhart, Alex Wilson, Gabriel Wilson, Temperance Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Bryce Russell, Abigail Russell; and many cousins.

Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Seabrook United Methodist Church, 3300 Lakeside Dr., Seabrook, TX 77586.
