Kim Rene Harano
Kim Rene Harano (née Rains), 68, passed away peacefully in her home in Houston on November 25, 2024 from complications due to Lewy Body Dementia. Kim was a woman of faith and a watercolor artist as well as a beloved wife, mother, and friend.
Kim was born on Oct. 12, 1956, to the late Lorraine (Bob) Berry and late Robert (Betty) Rains. She was a graduate of North Platte High School and the University of Nebraska. She retired from Baylor College of Medicine as a Department Grants Coordinator in 2018.
Kim and her husband, Paul, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on February 10th, 2024.
Kim was an active member of her church. She served as one of the church’s youth group leaders, was a regular participant in the women’s bible study group, and also volunteered on the New Church Development Committee where she helped aspiring churches join the Houston Area Presbytery.
In addition to her faith, Kim was also a prolific and talented artist, and an active member of the Watercolor Art Society of Houston for many years. Her philosophy was if she didn’t like a piece of her artwork then she wouldn’t sell it, but if she did enjoy the piece she was going to keep it!
In addition to her husband, Kim is survived by her daughter Sarah and son-in-law Jimmy Cross. She is also survived by her sisters and their spouses, Carrie and Dave Harris; and Susan and Chad Stevens. She will be missed by all including her cousins, nieces, nephews, church community and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Webster Presbyterian Church. Time and Date to be announced.
