Joan Lee Geissler
Joan Lee Geissler died peacefully on April 13th, 2014 at the Harbor View Care Center. She was born the 30th of April, 1932 to the late George and Evelyn Pfleger and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where she met and married her husband William in 1955. They were together for almost 59 years. She was a devoted wife and mother of four. She followed Bill to Houston in 1974 after he was transferred from the St. Louis McDonnell-Douglas facility to the one supporting the Johnson Space Center in the Clear Lake Area. She was active in the community especially in her love of gardening and was a volunteer coordinator for the Bay Area Meals on Wheels for 25 years. She was also very active with the Space Center Women of Rotary. She is survived by her: husband, Bill Geissler; daughters, Joyce Geissler, Janet Poelker and husband Gregory; son, Kurt Geissler; granddaughters, Diane Carrico and husband Chris, Carolyn Poelker; and grandson, Mark Poelker. She is also survived by her: sisters, Barbara Pfleger, Susan Pfleger, Gloria Garrett and husband Ray; brother, James Pfleger and wife Karen, and her dearest friend Micki Czarnik. She was preceded in death by her son Mark. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Dr., Nassau Bay, 77058. Liturgy of the Word will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, at St. Paul Catholic Church followed by a reception in Beck Hall. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan’s memory may be sent to Bay Area Meals on Wheels, 14045 Space Center Blvd., Houston, TX 77062
