Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on November 19, 1:00-3:00 pm at the South Shore Country Club, 4297 South Shore Blvd, League City, TX 77573.
Betty was born May 22, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Esther Lassila. She attended Michigan State University where she met the love of her life, George, on a blind date and married him and they began their 60 year life adventure together. She joined the police academy and graduated at the top of her class as the only female. She proudly served in the Dayton Ohio police academy from 1958 – 1960. She and George then settled in Akron where they started their family. She loved being a mother and wife and gave her time and energy selflessly to her family as they moved from Ohio to Connecticut to Hong Kong and finally Texas. She loved to entertain, and could throw a party with the best of them, whether it was a dinner party, guests on their sailboat, or at the 19th hole. She loved golf and all the friends she made while playing with George and in the Ladies Golf Association. She loved to travel on Betty’s boat (the RV) and was the best first mate with her dogs in tow.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Esther Lassila and brothers Benjamin and Arthur Lassila. Betty is survived by her husband of 60 years George T. Pipper, son George E. Pipper and wife Tamra, daughter Elisabeth Pipper Stephenson and husband Kevin, grandchildren Lauren Howard and husband Mike, Amy Walter and husband Mark, George E. Pipper, and Kacey, Kevin J.II, and Benjamin Stephenson, great-grandchildren Finn and Abigail Howard and Alora Venebal.
