She married Vern Fields on June 16, 1951. Margie was the world’s best mother and homemaker. She sewed all of her daughters’ beautiful dresses and cooked delicious meals and kept the cleanest and most pleasant house in Sedgwick, KS. She filled every birthday with joy and every holiday with magic. She was a devoted and active member of First Christian Church in Sedgwick, and she taught all her children to love the Lord, reading the Bible daily with them at home. She served the Sedgwick Community through the Athena Club and the Band Booster Club. Along with Vern, she spearheaded the development of the Sedgwick Historical Museum. When the children were older, she worked as an administrative secretary at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS till she retired with her husband Vern, to enjoy a new home on Grand Lake in Grove, OK. After Vern’s death, she moved to Pearland, TX to be near her daughters. Always preferring to be busy and useful, Margie came out of retirement to work as a secretary for Compositech, Inc., and later became manager of her daughter’s medical office until she was 80 years old. She was an active member of Faith Community Church in Pearland, and a volunteer for Christian Helping Hands and Pearland Library.
