Michael Mel Owings
Michael Mel Owings
February 1, 1957 – December 30, 2016
Mike passed away unexpectedly during the night of December 30, 2016. He is survived by his mother, Mary Wynona Humphrey Owings Mooney, sister Michelle Jimee Owings Powel and her husband Martin Vincent Powel, “little brothers” Steve Hubbell and Davis Powel, niece Nicole Jimee Powel and his Oklahoma Family. He is also survived by his beloved kitties, Sylvester, Baby Kitty, and Shrew.
Mike enjoyed collecting and restoring antique radios and was a master mechanic. His passion was restoring Harley Davidson Motorcycles (and building choppers in the 70s and 80s). His talent and mastery are evident in “Jezebel”, his 1952 Harley Davidson Hydra-Glide, which he and Steve resurrected from a box of parts and a frame.
Michael’s wish was to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held on a later date. Expressions of sympathy or flowers may be sent to his mother Ms. Mary Mooney, c/o Bay Wind Village Care Center, 411 Alabama Avenue #216, League City, Tx 77553.
Mike would be honored by donations to your local Pet Rescue/No kill shelter.
Mikey, you definitely left this earth to soon but I know God was ready for you to be with him, Uncle James, My Daddy( your Uncle Joe) and your Uncle Truman , Gran and Grandpa Humphrey!!! I never will forget the time that Jason and I decided to shoot BB Guns at each other in the dark not realizing that your Cadillac was in the line of fire as well 😳!!!! You were a wonderful cousin and will be missed dearly!!!
I love you so very much!!!! May you rest in Gods arms forever!!! Love your little cousin!!!❤❤❤❤
Mike, I am saddened by your passing but I know you’re in heaven having a great time. In my younger days when you lived next door with Grandpa and Grandma, you taught me a few things that I haven’t forgotten: John Wayne was king, real men shoot .45’s and they ride Harley Davidson’s…everything else is for sissies! You always made me laugh and taught me a few things along the way. I don’t ride motorcycles much but every time I shoot one of my .45’s I think of you and I always will.I
Mike, I love and miss you cousin.
Aunt Mary, Shelly, Martin and Nicole, you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Jason
Mary, Michelle, Nicole and Martin, friends and family…this is a very sad time for us (the family of Michael Owings), but rest assured it is not a sad time for Mike. He is in Heaven being escorted all over Heaven by his Father, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and others that have gone on before him. I’m sure his first one to meet was Jesus, the one who died on the Cross of Calvary in order for Mike and all of us that remain to be able to make Heaven our home. There is hope for all of us.
Going to miss you brother. Save a spot for me. When I get there, we’ll take a “ride” in the sky!!! I’ promise to take good care of your sister until then.
Your brother-in-law,
Martino

Thinking of you with heartfelt sympathy. In this time of sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. With deepest sympathy, may you feel God’s comforting presence during this time of sorrow. There are no words to ease your pain, but know Mike is now in Heaven, in God’s loving arms, may he rest in peace.
Sincerest Condolences & much Love, from our family to yours,
Dione, LD & 5
He was always a good friend to me. I met him over 40 years ago. He has helped me out in life more times than I can count. He was taken too early and will be missed.

Mary.Michelle and family, send condolences and prayers to you and your family’. Talked with Mike a while back trying to get back together. Guess we were to busy with families to find time. Just very sad it didn’t happen. Missed the time we had at Granny’s riding his motorcycle when we’re young . Lots of fun. 🏍 See you in heaven with all our family. ☦️🛐⛪️
Dear Robert,
