Brother Scott and I are crushed with the passing of David, a person more like a son to us. Our children and Delores and Eugene’s children were more like brothers and sisters than simple friends. Our prayers are with Delores and the girls as they travel this rough valley. Cathy, our hearts go out to you. We have no doubt that David’s life has passed the test and a great reward awaits him.
Kathy & Trey,
We are so sorry for your huge loss. I know these past months have been on the edge, but it’s hard to believe he’s gone on to his reward. We pray that you’ll find peace and encouragement in knowing how much he loved you and how much joy you gave him in his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Trey during your time of grief. We love you. ~Bob & Sharon

Reposting from the day of Dave’s memorial:
I’ve been struggling for nearly a week to put this into words. I’ve started and erased everything many times.
Ever since Dave’s heart attack last year. I had an immeasurable faith that he would be fully restored, that he would be healed. With each setback that threatened to take him from us, I clung to the peace that I felt, and I told God how much I trusted him to fully restore Dave. I kept waiting for the miraculous report of healing that would astonish the doctors… and it never came.
In his hospital room after we knew he’d be leaving us that night, I told him not to worry, that he could rest easy. I told him that we would take care of Kathy and Trey for him… and I won’t ever break that promise I made to him.
I have struggled this past week wondering why God didn’t grant the hundreds if not thousands of prayers that bombarded his throne for Dave’s healing. I have wondered why God needed him more than we do. I have questioned God’s plan and his timing. All I could think of was the grief, pain and suffering.
It wasn’t until today, sitting in his funeral service that it dawned on me. Dave wasn’t healed in the way that we had hoped, but he WAS healed. Dave wasn’t destroyed by death… instead, he received the ULTIMATE healing. God did exceedingly above all we could ask or think when he made Dave well and allowed him to rest in the arms of his Savior.
Dave receiving his ultimate healing may have taken him from us physically, but our memories can’t be taken… Those… Those are ours to keep.
