George Cecil Theiler
George Cecil Theiler of Hitchcock passed from his earthly life on July 19, 2016, in Alvin, Texas He was born on November 29, 1946 to Malchom Sr and Dollie Theiler.
George attended Hitchcock schools and that is where he met and married the love of his life, Rose Marie Scrofne Theiler. They were married 50 years on the day of her passing.
After serving in the US Marine Corp, George and Rose Marie lived in Arcadia, Texas until purchasing their home in Hitchcock. He worked for Houston Lighting and Power as a pole truck driver until his retirement, serving at multiple service centers to include, South Shore, South Houston, Galveston, Brazoria County and Santa Fe, once retired he owned and operated a lawn service until his illness prevented him from working.
George was a member of the Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce working for Joyce Balke on the flag crew, putting out and picking up flags along Highway 6 for patriotic holidays. He was also an Associate Member of Santa Fe Fire & Rescue, using his driver skills driving the tanker truck to College Station during the evacuation for Hurricane Rita.
He was preceded in death by his parents, devoted wife Rose Marie, their infant daughter Loretta Kaye, brothers Malcohm Jr, Frank and Ernest Theiler along with Sister Sofie Webster, In-Laws Joe and June Scrofne and beloved pets Chelsey, Bum, Shadow and Mitzi.
Survivors include his Godchildren, Nicole (Chris) and Christopher (Ashlyn) that he loved dearly and treated as his own children. Brother Lee Theiler, Sisters Sue Sidiropolous, Dolly Pourchot, and Joyce Smith. Sisters and Brother-In Law, Trish Anderson (Tommy), Barbara Derrick (Mark) and Joe Scrofne, Jr (Carole). Nieces’ and Nephews Heather Derrick (Dustin), Joey Scrofne (Tanya), Michael Scrofne (Sharon), Sheila Sidiropolous, Tricia Anderson, Sherry Beaupre (Bryan), Sharon Smith, Frankie Theiler (Lisa), Great nieces and nephews Megan, Trevor, Trent, Cameron, Bryce, Gavin, Kayla, Kyle, Summer and Autumn.
George was blessed with lots of people who loved and cared for him, especially Trish, who everyone thought was his daughter, Sue and Dolly, who faithfully visited him at Laurel Court. Megan and Trent who dearly loved their “Uncle George” and he felt the same always giving each of them a smile even when his memory began failing him. Allen Netzel and Donald Gavin, co-workers from HL&P who visited him often.
Special thanks to his caregivers from Laurel Court in Alvin and recently the staff from Heart to Heart Hospice including his nurse Tammy and Chaplain Jerry.
Pallbearers will be: Dustin Sidiropolous, Ricky and Robert Pourchot, Bryan Beaupre, Matt Migl, Allen Netzel and Donald Gavin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Members of Santa Fe Fire & Rescue, Members of Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department, Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce and Co-Workers from HL & P.
Visitation will be Friday, from 5-8 PM and Services Saturday, 2PM all at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson. Burial will be at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock
